In 1987, being the first to obtain the SLS 147 certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI),
“National PVC” led the PVC industry into a new era in Sri Lanka. The Company was also the first to obtain the SLS 659 for uPVC fittings and the first to obtain certification for the ISO 9000 series of quality management system for a company in this industry.

SLS 659: part 1: 1993 covers uPVC pipe joints and fittings suitable for solvent welding The pipe fittings are categorized as, a. un-plasticized Moulded products by injection moulding b. Heat processed products from pipes conforming to SLS147. Both categories of pipe fittings are classified according to the working pressure ratings at 29oC.
