Central Industries recently initiated a drinking water project, with the assistance of Sri Lanka Army 64th Division to provide clean water to three schools in Oddusuddan in Mulaitivu.
The resources and funding was provided by National PVC with the labour support provided by the troops of 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 17th (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment under command to 641 and 642 Brigades.
The initiative will help in fighting waterborne diseases and other health issues arising from contaminated water. It will also provide better hygiene due to handwashing, which is essential in preventing the spread of Covid.
Major General U.G.R. Weerakoon General Officer Commanding 64th Division and the Marketing Manager of National PVC Dealer Network Sapumal Herath, Sales Manager, Group Brand Manager, Area Sales Manager, distributor in area, and key officers, 642 Brigade, Officers, Other Ranks, Principals, Teachers, and students were also present.
Kulamurippu Government Tamil Mixed School (GTMS), Karipaddamurippu GTMS and Palampasi GTMS and the people of the area are the main beneficiaries of this initiative.
